Rather than focusing on the best project, HSSP aims to select the most innovative yet simplest projects with due consideration for resource disparities. We want students to maximize their creativity while following the scientific process, providing them the skills to become future game-changers.

Competition Structure

  • Categories

    HSSP offers categories spanning various fields, including Math & Engineering, Astrophysics, Computer Science, Medicine & Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science.

  • Round 1: Pitch

    Our unique two-round submission process starts with an elevator pitch-style pre-recorded video presentation. In the submitted video, provide a brief 1-3 minute overview of your project, highlighting the problem being addressed, and a brief flowthrough of the methodology, results, and conclusions. The top 25% in each category advance to the final round.

  • Round 2: Showcase

    In this stage, participants give a live 5-10 minute oral presentation of their project, followed by a 5-minute Q&A. All finalists from the first round compete together in a free-for-all style with no specific categories. This format mirrors a traditional science fair presentation, allowing contestants to delve deeper into their work. The emphasis is on showcasing the science behind the projects, and the top 10 projects are awarded cash prizes.

  • Prizes

    Compete for the chance to win cash prizes from our $5,000 prize pool. As we secure sponsors, the prize pool will continue to grow and be updated.
